A Mother’s Blessing

My Dear Children,

One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him. When Jesus saw what was happening, he was angry with his disciples. He said to them, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.” Then he took the children in his arms and placed his hands on their heads and blessed them. (Mark 10:13-16).

Scripture reveals the power of God’s blessing upon his people:

The Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:

 The Lord bless you
    and keep you;
 the Lord make his face shine on you
    and be gracious to you;
 the Lord turn his face toward you
    and give you peace.”

 So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them” – Numbers 6:22-27.

Abraham blessed Isaac. Isaac blessed Jacob. Jacob blessed his sons.

This Mother’s Day I want to speak a blessing over you, my children:

May the Lord’s presence and the name of Jesus be your rock, your high tower, your refuge in every storm. May you cling to him as your firm foundation. May you thirst for growing intimacy with the living God all the days of your life.

May you hunger for God’s Word and may His words of life sustain you.

May the Lord gift you with the infilling and empowering of His Holy Spirit now and always.

May your identity be firmly established in Christ. May you walk confidently in the truth that you are beloved children of God.

May you shine the light of God’s love into the darkness of the world. May God grant you a spirit of compassion, grace, tenderness, and boldness as you proclaim his good news to others.

May the Lord grant you the gift of wisdom and discernment as you face choices of all kinds, leading you on the paths of righteousness.

May you walk in healthy, life-giving relationships that will strengthen, sustain, nurture, and challenge you.

May the Lord give you the gift of tears over injustice and evil and the courage to be a voice for the voiceless.

May the Lord give you a generous spirit and a willingness to share what you have with those in need, trusting God to provide your needs.

May the Lord equip you with faith and trust in Him in your darkest moments and deepest valleys; May he answer you in your time of trouble.

May the Lord give you lightness of heart and delight in the gift of each new day. May you celebrate the gift of life that God has given to you and follow Him all the days of your life.

May the Lord bless your creativity and imagination, your aspirations and endeavors; May He establish the work of your hands.

May you be equipped with the full armor of God to protect you from every attack of the enemy of your soul.

May the Lord’s blessing be upon you, your children, and your children’s children and all the generations that are to come.

Love,

Your Mother
